Rural Health Medical Biller and Coding Specialist Billing & Coding Specialist

West Side Family Health Care (WSFHC) is seeking a Billing & Coding Specialist to support clinical and non-clinical operations. Reporting to the Business Manager, this position is responsible for healthcare billing, coding, claims management, insurance payer communication, patient payments and collections, credentialing support, reporting, and electronic medical record (EMR) system support.

The Billing & Coding Specialist will ensure claims are submitted accurately and on time, investigate and resolve billing issues, prepare routine financial and claims reports, communicate with patients, providers, and insurance payers, and assist with credentialing activities. This role will also serve as an EMR Super User, providing training and troubleshooting support to staff, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with quality program claims and encounter completion.

Key responsibilities include:

● Submit, monitor, and resolve insurance claims and billing issues.

● Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly billing, claims, and patient reports.

● Communicate with patients, providers, insurance companies, and vendors regarding billing and payment             matters.

● Assist with provider credentialing, payer communications, and related documentation.

● Serve as an EMR Super User and provide staff training and troubleshooting.

● Process patient payments and prepare collection correspondence.

● Review, scan, and upload insurance remittance documents and billing correspondence.

● Maintain accurate patient records, files, and billing documentation.

● Support billing-related quality programs and policy and procedure reviews.

● Participate in billing, credentialing, and vendor meetings as assigned.

Qualifications:

● At least 2 years of healthcare experience and completion of a Medical Assistant Certification Program, OR

● At least 2 years of experience as a Billing & Coding Specialist in a healthcare setting.

● Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

● Proficiency with computers and detailed data entry.

● Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.

● Bilingual Spanish/English with healthcare experience preferred.

● Rural Health Clinic billing/coding experience preferred.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Annual Pay Scale:

$50,880. To $60,480
