The West Side Health Care District was originally formed in 1947 to provide hospital and emergency health care services to the residents of western Kern County. The District owned and operated West Side Hospital until 1998, when it was sold to Catholic Healthcare West. In September, 2003, CHW closed the acute care and emergency services at the Hospital, leaving only skilled nursing available.
The West Side Health Care District is committed to assessing the changing needs and desires of its residents, reaching out to provide a wider range of services than ever before, and seizing opportunities to enhance the health and welfare of the community.
