Eric Cooper, Board President 

Eric is co-owner of Cooper’s True Value Home Center. He is a member of the Taft Kiwanis Club, board member and Past President of Taft Oildorado, Inc., Student advisor for the Taft Union High School Oil Academy and has served on the Taft District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Westside Regional Occupational Program Retail Advisory Committee. Eric has been on the Board since 2000.

Adele Ward, Board Vice President

A lifelong resident of the Westside has given Adele the ambition to become active in community service. Serving as President of the Kiwanis Club of Taft in 2002-03 and currently the secretary/treasurer of the Kiwanis Club. She also serves as a board member of the Taft Chamber of Commerce, West Kern Oil Museum and now a member of the Westside Health Care District board. Adele has been employed by Taft City School District since 1987 and currently holds the position of Chief Business Official. She and her husband have made their home in Taft and love the community. Adele looks forward to witnessing and being a part of the progress and growth of the Taft community.

Ginny Miller, Board Secretary and Treasurer

Raised in West Covina, Ginny moved to Taft with her husband, Randy Miller, in 1978. She has two children – Melissa and Andrew. Ginny received her Associate Degree from Mt San Antonio Junior College in Walnut and is retired from West Kern Water District where she was the Assistant to Director of Finance. Ginny is an active participant in the Taft community and served on Taft City School Board for 10 years.

Jan Ashley, Board Member

Having been raised in Taft and living here the majority of her life, Taft gives Jan a good perspective on small town living. Jan has been involved in many aspects of the community including serving on the Taft Union High School Board for 20 years, and currently serving on other boards: The ARC, Taft District Chamber of Commerce, and Taft High ROP as Chairperson, Taft College Foundation, and Taft High Hall of Fame chairperson.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from Fresno State in education, but chose nursing as a career.  She is a certified Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner, but is currently retired.  Jan is married with two children.

Darren Walrath, Board Member

Darren has been a local resident of the Westside his entire life. He has been employed with Chevron since 1987 and is currently a Safety Advisor & Emergency Medical Technician that oversees the Health & Safety of employees and contractors. He is the President of the Kern County Fire & Safety Group and served as a Paid Call Captain for 16 years with Taft City Fire Department. He is an active member of the community and currently serves on the City of Taft Community Safety Committee. In addition, he is a small business owner that provides safety at local racing events within Kern County. He is very excited to be a board member and a part of the development and expansion of the urgent care facility.
